Necessary Components

Thought leader, Seth Godin, wrote, “Marathon runners don’t complain about the tired, because getting tired is a necessary component of a well-run race.” Tired happens over 26 plus miles. It is part of the journey of running well.

There are certain components that are a necessary aspect of any job, or activity. There is residual effects of anything we want to do well. It is important we know what they are. Understanding the necessary components will allow us to push through to the win we desire.

Here are a few topics with my suggested necessary components.

The necessary components of leading well: Criticism, communication, clarity, compassion, connections, and compromise.

The necessary components of parenting well: Discipline, guidelines, consistency, rebellion, rule testing, and liberal doses of love.

The necessary components of pastoring well: Shepherding, confrontation, biblical preaching, relationships, steadfastness, and discipleship.

The necessary components of marrying well: Commitment, understanding, listening, trust, perseverance, acceptance, and taking responsibility for your own happiness.

The necessary components of following Jesus well: Obedience, fellowship, community, prayer, bible application, and openness.

The necessary components of living well: Optimism, hope, love, joy, contentment, living in the moment, and genuine faith.

What have you found to be the necessary components of your life?
